Does anyone know what the building is at the bottom of Ackroyd Road, opposite the Community Centre? I have walked past there several times and seen a gym, pool table and table tennis inside, yet it does not appear to be open to the public.

Hi There
I have a feeling it is an old peoples home or a rehabilitation centre for older folk - but maybe I am wrong any other ideas out there?

I'm not sure it's an old peoples home unless pensioners are suddenly into lifting weights and playing ping pong. My feeling is that it is some kind of rehab centre, maybe AA?

I have noticed on the board at the community centre that the AA groups meet there sometimes. So I think it must be some kind of residential place? Will be passing there later on so will take another peek.

Isn't it a home/centre for people with disabilities?

For those of us who live near this place, its a damn nuisance! Its a home/hostel for those who, mainly, have mental problems. Its nothing but a series of events such as bedding being set on fire, residents begging for money to buy booze and, more recently, offering sexual services. This coupled with other residents standing outside shouting at the moon, sun, buses or anything that passes by; makes for an "interesting" feature to the area.

I had no idea that such complimentary entertainment was available in the area.
