I wish to complain about the poor train service I have experienced in recent times for example.... On 12th Feb 1990 the 7.38am was cancelled, the next train was so crowded it was delayed at Honor Oak and Brockley with people trying to get off and on. On 13th Feb 1990 the 8.43am arrived at 9.00am with only 4 carriages. Could not get on train, even though it remained at Forest Hill station for 5 mins plus it was not going to stop at Honor Oak or Brockley. The 8.58am arrived at 9.12. Aas for Feburary 19th 1990, don't even go there! Phew..feel so much better know. |

I'm glad you're feeling better, but have you really been waiting seventeen years to get this off your mind? |

Steam, Steam! In those days we had to push the train along the track. 19th February 1990 Arrive at Charing Cross at 21:20 at 21:33 the 21:35 train was cancelled. Passengers told to take a train to London Bridge and pick up the 21:42. At London Bridge only the 22:12 is indicated but there is a another train waiting to leave, no announcements or staff around. Go to the operations room and observe one person making station announcements, and apparently controlling trains in and out of the station. I look on a computer and see 21:35 from Charing Cross had been cancelled as early as 20:55. I bet that sort of thing doesn't happen anymore. Oooh, find my 1980 diary of great train journies to and from Forest Hill, to be continued.... |
