Check this site to see if our area is on the up.

"Traffic wardens, builders' skips, and lots of burglar alarms are ... are all key indicators of an area "on the up" with the potential for rising house prices. Other signs include crowded public transport, ethnic restaurants and better school results."

More poor use of the word ethnic (blaming the BBC not Sherwood). All food/restaurants/people are 'ethnic', even if their ethnicity is white-English (and their aren't many foods or people who are truly white-English without any ethnic minority contribution). I guess the type of restaurants they would count as 'non-ethnic' would be McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut - all good American chains and hardly indigenous. Okay, rant over.

I would suggest that the number (and quality) of gastropubs is probably a better indication of an area on the up. A few Thai restaurants, a Tapas bar, and a coffee shop would also be good indicator. So when are we getting a coffee shop!

Apparently "crowded public transport" is a good sign!

I have not noticed Cafe Nero or Starbucks yet, regretably
