I have just had a postcard through my door advising me that I need to go to the post office at Forest Hill to collect a letter because the sender did not pay the full postage. I have to go up there and pay £1.06. Since the £1.06 includes £1 handling fee for underpaid items, the postage must be 6p short!
I have been in all morning. But apparently the postman/postwoman cannot ring my doorbell and collect the 6p underpayment because postmen/postwomen are not allowed to collect money.

I think you can guess that I am not happy with this service!

What with an article I read yesterday (can't remember where) that the Post Office are considering scrapping saturday deliveries. In line with europe apparently. Added to the already confirmed closure program and strikes it doesn't exactly add up to concept of "service"

I have ahd a reply from Adam Crozier the Chief Executive.
This is it:

"Thanks for letting me know....apologies for this.
Adam"

I wonder if he will make changes.

While most of the stuff I post does arrive on the right day and I am quite impressed that I can send a birthday parcel from London to Scotland for under £2 and it can arrive the next day, I do agree that their service isn't great.

It was my birthday on one recent Saturday and various non-London family members called in during the morning to wish me birthday greetings. They couldn't believe that my post hadn't arrived yet and didn't arrive until 1.30pm that day.

Collecting stuff after you get a postcard through the door isn't that convenient either at Forest Hill. Although the location is good, the opening times aren't; 8am to 1pm isn't that helpful for those who work outside Forest Hill. Those same friends have sorting offices where they can collect things between 7am and 7pm which offers a lot more leeway for those who are working.

I was going to forest Hill about 2.00 p.m. yesterday. But the office closed at 1.00 p.m.. Obviously, I could not make the journey twice in one day.
