It looks like Lewisham are taking the opening seriously offering an opportunity for people to watch others demonstrating and showing off the facilities. However nice all this jolly stuff is, it doesn't actually say that anyone is going to be able to get to use the damn thing.

In a moment of complete naivety I paid Fusion £325 for membership of the Leisure Centre last June. I have had some exchange of emails and a telephone call. Everything was very soothing. I could have a refund but the pools would be open in a few days...

In August a 'Customer Relations Manager' emailed and said for a further £36.25 I could "use other facilities for FREE until we are open". I didn't quite see how paying even more counted as getting something for free, and I thought my earlier payment might have qualified for some use of "facilities". I was then promised "couple of passes for Dulwich Leisure center(sic)" These have turned out to have the same materiality as access to the Forest Hill Pools: ie none at all.

So the spectacle on the 22 September promises something for everyone. This includes a taste of activity classes and the pool, which oddly does not sound all that inviting. For people who do not want to taste these things then demonstrations will be given. What would be really good, however, are the details of when the facilities will be open to the public, and possibly even to this poor fool who has paid already.

Earlier in this thread people have observed that Fusion haven't been much good running other Leisure Centres. I wonder to what the 22 September will really be an omen.

Kipya, you're not the only fool! I also paid for the year's membership in July and have been very disappointed to say the least by the lack of contact from Fusion. I did get a conciliatory phone call from them last week after sending a series of unanswered emails to them about their appalling customer service but it would be good to know some details. I feel like I've given my cash to a big black hole - when will we be able to use the facilities, when will we get a membership card etc etc. Hopefully we'll find out by the 22nd...

I hope you are all reporting this to Lewisham, who are effectively Fusion's employers. Taking your money so far in front of the official opening date has to be wrong. When do your memberships officially start?

As I've said all along, Fusion have form for this sort of thing. It's only by complaining to Lewisham that we have half a chance of the pools being operated properly.

well said rhsdunlop, us moaning on here probably wont make much difference but surely if the aggrieved parties vent to Lewisham then perhaps they will keep an eye on how the place is actually run.
Having waited so eagerly for this opening I for one will be gutted if the pool is a big let-down and I end up back at the SPA in Beckenham which may be a drag to get to but at least its clean and well run.Sad

I've heard a rumour that the pools may not be available for public use immediately after the official opening on 22 September (although the other facilities, gym etc will be), because of a problem to do with air-conditioning.

Rob the barber told me this morning that he had it on good authority that the air-conditioning problem has now been fixed and that everything should be ready by 22 September.

I also spoke to Rob this morning (I have the haircut to prove it) and he said that he had been shown round inside and the facilities looked like something out of a 5 star hotel. Of course Forest Hill swimmers deserve no less!

Good news re the inside.. but..cant believe it has taken up until the 22nd September for this place to open. Primarily annoyed because I had to go to a ridiculous amount of effort to exit my previous contract on the promise that the pools would be open in June/July.. and having had money already taken from my account, it leaves a bit of a bitter taste in your mouth.

Oh well..hopefully they'll pull their act together soon

If they are going to let horses into the pool, I might give it a miss.

Is it open? Who will be able to claim to be the first from the forum to take a dip?

It didn't look very open this morning. Has anyone received their membership card or any kind of notification from Fusion? I haven't..

Those horses are going to get a bad reputation if they keep mouthing off like that Smile
Perhaps once they make it to the water they can break the habit of a species and buy us all a drink.

There was a horse outside the pool last week looking very upset that the pool wasn't open yet. I know this because I asked what was upsetting her. The exact wording of my question I'll leave to your imagination.

I have just had it on good authority Smile that they will open tomorrow.
They had planned to open today but had a few last minute niggles and will definitely open tomorrow.

Trunks at dawn!

Email & Text to confirm it's open tomorrow. Although I don't have a membership card so expect delays when people just turn up and no doubt have to fill in countless forms!

I'm going to wait a few days and go early Monday I think - look forward to any weekend reviews on here!

Dan
