Hi all, if all goes well I will shortly be buying one of those fantastic Edwardian houses along Garthorne Rd which backs onto the nature reserve and I was wondering whether anyone could let me know what it is like to live round there? According to some of the other threads I have read on this site it seems as though the area has a nice vibe to it and I am looking forward to moving in! Comments welcome.

Yes, it's a good spot. Quiet, easy access to HOP and walkable to Forest Hill. Easy parking and good access to local facilities / transport. Welcome!

Yes, it's very nice indeed. The parking thing is amazing - where we are we could have three cars and still park each one outside our house comfortably. Access to the rear of the properties is difficult and not overlooked and the road is very quiet traffic wise.

As the previous poster said, it's 5 minutes walk to HOP and 10 minutes to Forest Hill. We often walk to the butchers in Crofton Park down Coddrington Hill - 15/20 minutes ish.

Welcome to the road!

Yes - have been in Garthorne Rd 4 years or so and I too love it. It is very quiet in terms of traffic noise for London (especially if you are down the HOP end) as no through traffic. Very good transport links especially with the Overground.
