Hi - we are also local, and also did not get any of our 6 requests for schools, and were also allocated a place at Haseltine.  Our two closest schools are Dalmain and Stillness, around 450m from both.  Not sure where we were on the waiting list for Stillness - I do know we were 5th for Dalmain - this was back in April when places were allocated.  We visited all our listed schools (Fairlawn, Horniman, Kilmorie, Eliot Bank) but figured only those first two were realistic options give the distance numbers that have been published in the last few years.

Once we got the news that we'd not been offered any of our choices, and after much discussion and research, we decided to home educate. However, this was something we had already kicked around a bit before applying for schools - and when it all happened we figured it was time to commit. We did go on the waiting lists for Stillness and Dalmain, though, as we needed time to decide and you have to respond to the offer/get on the lists pretty quickly.  Anyway, we were offered a place at Dalmain, which was our first choice, in mid-June, though we turned it down - so that seemed to move pretty quickly?  We also came off the waiting list for Stillness at that time, so hopefully we freed up a space for someone.  Good luck to all those waiting to hear.

Just found this great site!!
http://www.locrating.com
It basically shows you all the schools in your local area on a map, rates them and gives you at a glance ofsted reports and information without having to trawl around millions of other sites.
Essential!!
