There is a burst water main on London Road which has turned it into something more like a river. The road was closed with diversions via Dartmouth Road and serious delays.
Low water pressure this morning.

Major traffic jams on Sydenham Road as well - the whole road heading towards FH and Crystal Palace at a standstill all the way back to Bell Green.

With all the extra water hitting the drains it seems that they are beginning to 'back up'. Be warned, you may return home to a garden full of sewage or worse if you have a downstairs loo.

It's lovely. Nice and quite on Waldenshaw Road, we slept like logs.

Is this burst main in the same position as last year's major repair ?
Is it to become an annual event ?
I think we should be told.

If anyone has problems with 'blocked' drains/sewers on their property can you post details on here. There is sewage/waste water overflowing onto ours and our neighbours' properties and we are trying to establish whether this is a true 'block' (some others in the local area seem to think it is ok to flush all sorts down the toilet - nappies etc) or whether it is a backing up problem caused by the amount of water hitting the drains from the burst water main.
Thames Water have said they would respond at some point to take a look but (a) their local resources are obviously busy so that wont be for some time and (b) warned of high costs if they establish the problems isn't their responsibility. As a result a neighbour has called a private contractor which is also costing a pretty penny and it would be good to have evidence of other blocking/backing up if we need to go back to Thames Water for a refund.
Also, is anyone able to provided clear guidance on the changes to the drain/sewer responsibilities that took effect on 01 October? Seems perverse that you have to rely on the only other body who might be liable to tell you whether or not you hold responsibility or not.

Just went and spoke to the men working on the hole. they said the road will be closed until Monday.
Also there was a lot of water flowing down Taymount rise earlier, it seemed to originate from a manhole cover near the roundabout at the top

Have just got water in the last 5 minutes in Forest Croft. So much for the "2pm at the latest" Thames Water response I saw this morning.

Had a walk down there at 9.30, it looked like the pipe had been replaced as there were no leaks with a hole ready to be filled, yet if there's problems with the pipe further along, they may need to be dug up which may cause the road to continue to be shut until Monday.

Heard last night at the Forest Hill Society AGM that the A205 is due to be closed on Monday so they can erect scaffolding to repaint the Railway Bridge. Should add to the fun...

This is ridiculous if its true- its making it impossible to get around. How can they justify doing this on a busy weekday - surely it should be possible to get some sort of cradle arrangement in place or do it overnight instead?

To be fair, Network Rail had provided few details and it is possible that it could be in the wee hours. But there again...

Is Sainsburys still open as it must be hard to replenish stock. Unless of course they go the wrong way down Manor Mount. Like a lot of people.
