Just thought, isn't it quicker to walk from Cobbs and walk down Newlands Park to Penge East than to go to Penge West and walk from there?

Funny you should mention that. I have to go to north Kent a couple of times a year using this route. Before the ELL, with fewer trains stopping at PengeW, it was usually less hassle just to get the first train, get off at Sydenham, and walk down Venner to PengeE. Since the ELL, I go to PengeW.

But I imagine if I started on the 176 route by the Horniman, say, I'd stay on that to Sydenham and walk it.
