People do not usually walk, unless they have small children and take them for a walk. otherwise, they just jump in the car and drive somewhere where the shops (or supermarkets are) I guess.
In my case, I'd say the opposite was true - I never even had a car until I had children. And I had a lot more free time and money to spend in cafes/dining out/using local shops.

We need a bakery here, like the one in Sydenham "Cake Shop" or Nunhead. Good selection of cakes, bread to buy and a table or two to sit and have a coffee would be great.

Is everyone missing the coffee & cake shop on the far corner of the triangle with Goldstar office furniture and the car wash? I went there a couple of times with other mums during my maternity leave, when they had just opened (about 4? years ago) and it was very nice. I believe run by the same people as have the concession in HOP train station. Has it closed down without my noticing it??

Do you mean McClarens? Next door to the barbers? I've had a few breakfasts in there and they're always good quality. Think it's only open in the daytime though.
Now Goldstar - there's a place crying out to be turned into a nice corner pub/bar! It really brings the entrance to HOP down.

No, it's the giving it back to the bank bit that is rather complicated! Thorough market research and supreme confidence is needed for HOP new ventures to survive. Remember Bar Tequila and the Red Room!

yes, true, not easy for new ventures. Although the Polish Shop newly opened in Stansted Rd is doing well I gather.

Do you know that there is a hairdresser/salon called Attractions on Brockley Rise. And a nail bar on Brockley Rise. And a hairdresser on the HOP parade. I wonder how many more hair and beauty salons we really need in the area.

A beauty salon i.e. what Beauty Plus would be complementary to hair salons. They do facials, massages and botox and stuff like that, but no hair and I don't think they do nails either. I would definitely consider using them! (if I had the time and/or money!)

Attractions offers facials, massage etc as well as being a hair salon. They obviously need a bit more PR in the area!

I don't think Beauty plus will be a problem for them. As it has been said before it is a different service.
Attraction = hair and manicures
Beauty Plus = skin peels, botox, facials, body wraps, massages, hair removal, liver spots and sun spot removal, semi permanent make-up, scar camouflage, sun bed and tanning, hair removal, 1h pedicures and manicures. etc
I will continue to use Attraction as my local hairdresser but Beauty Plus are also a local established business (since 1984 in Forest Hill Road) so I would be very happy to welcome them to HOP.

No all over body wax then, evanick?
I also understand that beard electrolysis is popular with thesp types, many of whom, I understand, make their home in this area....
