Hi Snazy
I believe illegal to drive on the pavement but you have to be seen doing it. If you are actually parking on pavement apparently you can say youi did not drive on the pavement somehow the car got there.
I would appreciate an experts info as to the legality or otherwise of parking on pavement.
I never did it out of principal.
On some roads, it's council policy that you DO park on the pavement - they even draw lines on them for you.
Just as BarCar to fill you in.

I guess at the end of the day if its going to damage the road or cause a gas leak, its better not to have them.
They would probably get torn down by loving drunken yobs in no time anyway

lol or indeed urinated on by drunks. I do wonder at times which does more of it ml's per body. Humans or dogs.
Never been offended by seeing a dog cock a leg, but watching a human is another matter lol.

Snazy,
Bollards!
We want bollards to keep the pavement clear.
There are double yellow lines to indicate no parking at any time.

Bollards back at ya lol.
Nothing to do with me mate, im just the voice.
I agree though, some form of spaced out posts would prevent mounting the pavement.
Just had a gander at it, looking pretty good, but the raised island will indeed make it easier to drive up onto the pavement. I give it til Thursday for it to start.
Other than that, I think its looking pretty good.
Now lets wait for the selfish ones to ruin it for everyone else.

Would be good to know what the 'alternatives' are to trees. Nice if there was some greenery there rather than just a wash of grey.
Speaking of grey, does anyone know what the latest is with the Berkley building?? Are we still waiting until the New Year to find out how their appeal goes re the one bed flats?

Would that be Baggydave's area of expertise?

It looks good today.
Was Mick Hepworth accompanied by the usual glamour girls when he opened the road?
I don't want trees.
I usually bump into them after a good night out!

at long last i drove up perry vale last night on my way to work.
nice to see somethings never dam well change,
that cab company had already parked on the double yellow lines
with the car doors open while the drivers talk to each other blocking the road for everyone else and some nice person parked next to the subway waiting for a train to come in.
those double yellow lines should be made double red and people forced to use the underused carpark and that means that cab company as well.

I agree Davey. They will destroy the new pavement. Get Police to sort them out

Yup I agree, I do think that the cabbies have got a little too comfortable with the road being closed all this time. They need to move on now and stop with the blocking the road.
As a whole though, I have to say its looking pretty good, so hope "most" are happy with the outcome.
Still yet to take place is the cleaning and "refurb" of the subway, still happening. Some tidying up of substandard bits of the job as a whole, and of course NO trees (phew personally)
Dont think there is much more to add really other than "phew, thats that then"
Enjoy the roads guys and girls.

I notice they had put a nuber of metal posts to stop parking in the pavement in certain places but should be all the way along

I think the metal posts are more to identify the crossing point, identified also by the tactile paving
Posts all along while they would prevent parking (which should not occur anyway, and I would encourage PCN's being issues) would also take up valuable pavement space, so I think it is best without them.
Maybe the PCSO's can pop into the cab office and have a word or something ?

Probably not going to do a great deal of good, seeing as how that cab office has a big notice in the window demanding the right to park on Red Routes because they're SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVERYONE ELSE.

Have they ?? Jokers.
Looks like mini cab drivers are catching up with black cab drivers for arrogance!
If they do carry on then SE23 needs to have a voice. Not only to prevent an accident with people not seeing past the cars, but also to prevent damage to the new footpath.

sorry but my poiltness got pushed tonight driving up that road.
cars parked both sides of the road right round the bend and all over the nice new pavement.
me going towards foresthill clakes coach coming the otherway, we meet in the middle of these cars, great wonderful, i had to back up past the carpark just to let the coach past who was doing his best not to hit the parked cars,
one cab driver got a few well chosen words out my window
but by the look of it the crystal bar are just as bad at letting people park where they want.
i really can't see the point of having a large empty carpark a few steps away from these places and its not used, people just dump their cars where they please even if that means two wheels on the new pavement or fully in the road and just walk away.
thats just lazy it really is.
And no before someone jumps on me i don't hate cars, i drive everyday to and from my places of work, i just feel some people think they own the road and do as they please.
