I've just walked through it. The only immediately apparent change is that the internal walls at the London Road end have been painted white, thus obliterating the graffiti mural.
Made me think of medieval wall paintings in churches being painted over by Protestant reformers in the sixteenth century, but I'm not sure that's really a very apt parallel!

Well, some of the white is disappearing as we speak, for now at least.
A lot of cleaning going on in there today too. Subway still open, so no nasty detours for people.

Its getting greener and greener... And as the rain continues, and the poor drainage from the tracks is not sorted, all the paint is washing back off the walls in places

I noticed the paint peeling too. Is that green paint the final finish? How soon before it is graffitied? And the tarmac floor - is that it? That's all we get after all this time? Seriously, I could have done better myself.

I believe the work has temporarily stopped because the next stage (adding panelling to the central section) requires some coordination with Skanska to install new lighting at the same time, and is most likely to result in the subway being closed for more than a few hours at a time.
The new floor and the painting of the walls that are not to be clad, had to be done in advance for the best finish. I did recently ask for an update from Lewisham council transport liaison meeting, but I ended up giving the update (regarding the lack of visible progress) rather than representatives from Lewisham, LOROL, and Network Rail.

I must agree that if that is the final paint finish, then its not going to last 5 mins. Let's hope they sort that out once the drainage is sorted, and the waterfalls stop, if indeed that is the plan.
Looks better than it did though, can't deny that.

Not unsurprising the graffiti has started to return and hopefully that shade of green will not be discontinued any time soon as I suspect that it will be needed for the foreseeable future. Surely this was obvious and the walk way should have been closed and the walls sand blasted and made good that appears to work in other similar underpasses. Painting the walls in such an inviting way is pointless given the past issues.

The green paint can't be the final finish. It is already washing off. I am hoping the hiatus is for a re-evaluation of the quality of the execution and finish of the works.

Green paint seems to be holding now that a few more coats (and probably the anti-grafitti coating) have been applied.
And if you haven't walked through in the last few days, you won't be aware that cladding is being installed.
It is beginning to look better now.

Am I the only one who wonders if the roof isn't going to be a little bit low when the (very welcome -I hate the drips from the track cladding goes on?I am only 5ft 10 and it feels a bit 'close' to me.
Any of our over 6ft contributors have a view? I am pretty certain my 6ft 7 mate will have to stoop - but then he is used to that in so many places.

I though that yesterday as I was walking through, but when I looked back, I could see there was plenty of head height. I think (although I could be wrong) that it's an illusion caused by the currently exposed cross beams. But then again, I'm only little...

It is a shame as it was starting to look presentable and hopefully the cladding is specially treated......
I can only assume that the cladding reminds the “artists” of the white boards at primary school given that they have clearly not moved on mentally.

Does anyone know of the white cladding has in fact been (or is going to be) given some sort of anti-graffiti treatment? If so, would that merely mean that the graffiti would be easier to remove (rather than preventing them being put on in the first place)?
