TfL have got back to me re this....

Dear Mr Snasdell

Thank you once again for recently contacting us with regards to traffic light phasing at the junction of Stanstead Road/Cranston Road/Brockley Rise, and for your continued patience while we investigated this matter.

I can confirm that the change in staging at this junction is intentional, and this change has been made to run traffic movements simultaneously to increase the capacity at this busy junction and to increase the efficiency. The change at this location has been made as part of our review programme. This review is in progress and once complete the operation used to control this section of the network will provide a better balance for all users.

Please be assured that signal priority changed boards have been installed to bring the change to drivers’ attention.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your concerns. I do hope that the above information is helpful to you. Please contact me again if you need any further assistance, or if you would prefer to talk to us about this matter, please call us on 0343 222 1234.

Kind regards
