A "street" exhibition of local photography is now running in Forest Hill centre and Sydenham as part of the Arts Festival.
A screen in the window of Robert Stanford Estate Agents is showing photographs which have been submitted by local photographers. The photos are of local life in SE23 and SE26 but photos of the Festival "in action" are welcomed when things get underway this weekend. Three further screens have been placed in Sydenham Road - at the Kirkdale Bookshop, ICT and Arbico Computers (opposite The Dolphin).
To submit your photos - or to see the entire collection, please visit:
http://www.flckr.com/groups/sydenhamartsfestival
If you decide to submit your own photos they'll appear on all of the four screens shortly afterwards. Instant fame!
And throughout the Festival there is a PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION in Forest Hill Library showing the work of 9 local photographers.
Other art events in Forest Hill and environs include:
- Havelock Walk Open Studios both weekends
- Sculpture, Paintings and Ceramics Exhibition at Normanton Street Church (4-5th July 11am-5pm; refreshments available)
- Kirkdale Adult Exhibition Centre - arts and crafts (4th & 11th July 10am-5pm; 5th July 11am-5pm)
- Perry Hill Open Studio, 108 Perry Hill (4th, 5th, 11th and 12th July 11am-5pm)
- Perry Hill Pub: local scenes and French landscapes by Audrey and Martin Hammond
- Dartmouth Arms: Paintings by local sculptor and painter Jane Higginbottom
Pick up a brochure from FH Library, The Dartmouth Arms or Robert Stanford for full listings or visit the Festival website:

You're quite correct - thank you.
Post your photo entries at:

Don't forget this weekend:
- Open Studios at Havelock Walk Saturday and Sunday 11am - 7pm
with Left Behind a Havelock Walk theatre event at 12.30, 1.30, 2.30, 3.30 and 4.30pm. An intriguing and surprising theatre event brought to you by this "bold and saucy" theatre company. As you enter their rehearsal space in a converted warehouse in Havelock Walk, expect the unexpected. Voluntary contributions.
And at 4.30pm on Saturday at the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Church, 50 Dacres Road, Ensemble diX, a well-established woodwind ensemble from Germany who play original works, music from the baroque and commissioned works inspired by 1920s music. Voluntary contributions.

I really enjoyed visiting Havelock Walk so would definitely recommend that you have a donder next weekend.
(Bold and Saucy were great too - but unfortunately were a "special this weekend only" project.)
A lovely little artistic gem tucked away in Forest Hill.

Two more great events on Wednesday and Thursday:
Wednesday 7.30pm Windmill Pub, Kirkdale - live Indian Music and Dance with food provided by Gurkha's. Free
Thursday 8pm The Hob - Head to Toe in Berlin Cabaret. Remind yourself that today's global economic crisis isn't unique with a Weimar-themed evening of comedy and songs from local chanteuse Maria Trevis. ?9.00; concessions ?6.00. Not suitable for children.
This woman can sing! Check out an interview with Maria (listen again) plus an interview with Hob-owner Ron on the newly-established Sydenham Radio:

Longing for the return of the Arts Festival?
You'll just have to wait for another year I'm afraid.
But if you want to relive some of the best moments of SAF in a series of striking photographs, these are now available on a slideshow in the window of Robert Stanford. The slideshow runs until the end of the month.
The photos can also be seen on

They really are great - have a look at them. Who needs the Dulwich Festival!

There's a competition to have photos included in a LB Lewisham 2010 charity calendar on Flickr too...

Can't see Forest Hill cropping up much, so it'd be good to see some local budding photographers entering.
