I was trying to think of any dual carriageways in SE23 (I know it is an odd thing to think about).

There are dual carriageways in surrounding areas including Lordship Lane just as you enter SE23, Southend Lane (although most of this has been reduced to single line traffic each way), Bromley Road in Catford counts, at least for a section, but I can't think of any in SE23.

The closest I got was Honor Oak Park station where there are separate bridges for each lane, but there is only really a single line of traffic on one side.

To qualify as a dual carriageway there should be a raised area between the opposing directions of traffic and two lanes in each direction (Lordship Lane counts because of the bus lanes).

Have I missing somewhere or is SE26 completely free of dual carriageways?

Do I get an award for the most boring thread ever created on SE23.com?

That said, there are those little islands on parts of the road reducing it down, so the stretch between them might not qualify.

If Abercrombie' s plan had been realised we would have a working South Circ.

Doesn't London Road count - from Barclays all the way up to Home Accessories, with the island in the middle?

There is a short stretch of Brockley Rise http://goo.gl/maps/r2uqV
but this doesn't properly have two lanes in each direction. But I must admit that the railway bridges at Honor Oak Park do just about have two lanes, so this is probably the best so far.

Would be great if we could click on Alisa's SE23 blog on here and be taken to the sight as It's brilliant, and she is too! So I'll try and post it here http://se23.blogspot.co.uk/

I think the short section of Forest Hill road between the end of Wood Vale and the end of Brenchley gardens might now qualify. Islands down the middle and two lanes on each side, which filter into said roads.

Triangle,
Definitely an excellent inclusion in the list and probably the one that I knew existed but I couldn't remember where.

But possibly problematic as the road signs say it is SE22 (even though Wood Vale and Brenchley Gardens are both in SE23), and the fact that one of the lanes is a filter lane must count against it being a proper dual carriageway.

Erekose,
I thought Abercrombie sold trendy US clothes. But was he the one that wanted to bulldoze half of Forest Hill and place a tunnel under Dulwich? I'm glad we don't have that battle to fight in this generation.

I remember it as Ringway 2, but I thought it was going down Southend Lane (already a dual carriageway) and then through Sydenham (after much demolition).
