Let's hope the coverage on Radio London and the ITV local news does some good! I couldn't agree more with Michael Rosen in thinking that it'll be the less well-off who will miss out if these library closures go ahead. FHS Michael's vision of libraries of the future solely storing electronic versions of books is pretty depressing. Libraries SHOULD store books (both for reference and to lend out) on that old-fashioned medium: paper. Quite often since Forest Hill library was refurbished I have used Sydenham library, because there books still take precedence over computers!

It's important that we have libraries available for everyone and local enough to get to easily and accesible for everyone. My local library was a weekly eye-opener, treat and source of mind-blowing information in my formative years. There are huge amounts of money that can be saved elsewhere in the council (not necc the services) before libraries need to be closed.
I saw the colourful procession leaving Brockley Rise on its way down Stanstead Road towards the offices in Catford. But sadly I saw an older woman with her leaflet and flag walking on her own about 200m behind the main group determined/desparate to catch up with everyone
Would love to know how this event went and the feedeback from the group and the council. There are better ways to save money
