I have just seen in the South London Press than Thames (Turd) Water will be striking the area again undertaking work on Dartmouth Road from the 25th May for up to two months

LONDON BOROUGH OF LEWISHAM
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984
The Lewisham (Dartmouth Road, SE23)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lewisham Council made the above named
temporary traffic order under the provisions of section 14(1) of the Road
Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because of Thames Water works on and
adjacent to the highway. The effects of the order are indicated below.
1. (1) Northbound road closure and no parking/waiting in Dartmouth
Road between Nos. 2&4A Dartmouth Road and the A205 London Road.
(2) The diversion routes for traffic affected by the prohibition are via
(i) Dartmouth Road, Kirkdale, Sydenham Hill, Sydenham Rise, A205 London
Road; and (ii) Dartmouth Road, Kirkdale, Sydenham Road, Bell Green, Perry
Hill, Catford Hill, and the A205 westbound.
2. Exemption is provided in the order for vehicles engaged on the works,
vehicles being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes and
anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer.
3. The Order comes into force on the 25th May 2024 to remain in force
for up to 2 months. (Note: Works are proposed to be carried out between
25th and 28th May but additional duration is given for contingencies).
4. The prohibitions apply as, when and to the extent signed on the
highway.
Dated 3rd May 2024.
D. Wheeler, Operational Asset Management,
4th Floor, Laurence House, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU

And will wander why? Thames Water is in an diabolically state they will probably block of the road off on day one and by day three will start work for half a day before leaving it unattended and starting again a couple of days later. The council needs to start charging their companies for the disruption their cause and give them tight targets and if they excess them them start charging them a minimum of £250,000 for each hour they go over.

The key point to highlight is no.3

3. The Order comes into force on the 25th May 2024 to remain in force
for up to 2 months.
(Note: Works are proposed to be carried out between
25th and 28th May
but additional duration is given for contingencies).

So potentially, four days of disruption

It does seem a kick in the teeth seeing as Thames Water recently had temporary traffic lights at the London Road/Devonshire/Dartmouth Road T junction which caused the buses to be severely disrupted, especially the 185 which also had to deal with other roadworks.

So for four days, the 176 and 197 will be diverted away from Forest Hill, the 122 will run up London Road, Sydenham Rise and Kirkdale, leaving the 185 to take the strain of passengers travelling between Dulwich and Forest Hill.

122, 176 and 197 are still serving Dartmouth Road towards Sydenham.

If you're planning to use the 122 from Sydenham or Crystal Palace back to Forest Hill, don't!

The buses are being diverted via Dulwich along Lordship Lane, turning around at Dulwich Library and going back along Lordship Lane which has roadworks outside Overhill Road with temporary traffic lights before returning to FH adding around 15/20 mins to your journey.

Use the 356 if you're in Kirkdale north of Wells Park Road or rail services from Sydenham Station or even walk, from Crystal Palace you can use the 363 and get off in Sydenham Hill and walk down London Road.
