Got home late last night to find a phone message left by elderly friends who live near the South Circular. They have received a circular about road works starting next Monday and are worried about not being able to sleep through the racket. Did anyone else see this circular and can tell me who sent it? Thanks. |

I understand from the notice on Dog Kennel Hill that the work will also be happening along Dulwich Common starting next week. |

There is a notice near the new Laing homes (old TA base) stating roadworks in future, but I can't remember the precise details. |

Road works for 12 consecutive nights start from next Monday 27 February to Friday 10 March. The working hours will be from 8pm in the evening until 5am the next day. There are two separate components: 1. Resurfacing of the A205 South Circular Route nearside carriageway (local name Lordship Lane) from Forest Hill (opposite the western end of the Horniman Gardens) down to the next road junction near the Harvester Pub i.e. where the A205 takes a sharp left turn and Lordship Lane (A2216) continues to East Dulwich. 2. Resurfacing of the A205 carriageway (local name Dulwich Common) in part of the stretch from its junction with the A2216 (local name Lordship Lane) to A205’s junction with College Road/Dulwich Village. Throughout the road works: The Dulwich Common stretch of the A205 will be closed to traffic. Diversion - A205 westbound traffic will be redirected via Lordship Lane (East Dulwich) and Herne Hill. Diversion - A205 eastbound traffic will be redirected via Croxted Road, Sydenham Hill (Sydenham) and Sydenham Rise (Forest Hill) to turn right into London Road, rejoining the A205 South Circular outside the Horniman Museum. There will be further side road closures, local traffic diversions, buses re-routed, and bus stops suspended - details not known The TfL contact is stephenvella@streetmangement.org.uk. |

Whines, beeps and drones from Lordship Lane The smashing of glass, vandals again The sirens down Peckham of the old Bill These are the nightime sounds of Forest Hill A poem by Baggy Dave, aged 9 1/2, conceived whilst listening to the road works, in bed, during the early hours of the morning. |

What is wrong with the Archers. Great programme as is 90% of Radio 4. |
