Steve Grindley and Michael's contributions on blue placques got me thinking about where Earnest Shackleton lived (think it was just into Southwark). Oddly enough a quick google got me onto a site which looked at property prices in the area. For those of you merely interested in how much yours is worth, or how difficult it is to buy a place, tthe most expensive and cheapest areas are given in: www.ourproperty.co.uk/stats/london/forest+hill.html Not that I would dare to suggest talk on property prices is rather shallow. Seems to cross into Southwark and can't comment on it's validity. Land registry also of course to regular housing stats as do others. And BD would like to apologise to the HOPers out there, as his comments are usually reserved for Forest Hill - he is beginning to appreciate the charms of HOP village. So there. |

Sir Ernest Shackleton the Antractic Explorer spent part of his boyhood at 12 Westwood Hill, Sydenham. I believe the house has a blue plaque. |
