Over several years my friend Graham (Lawrence), owner of Mr Lawrence Wine Bar and the Wine Merchant next door has been battling to have the bus stop placed directly outside the bar moved. I myself have written letters to Joan Ruddock, Sir Steve, TfL etc etc and have had only negative - and in Sir Steve's case - rude replies. Now the powers that be have decided to put a further stop opposite - outside the chemist shop.
I think the Wine Bar is a valuable meeting place in our extended community and it is now reaching the stage where closing down is a serious consideration. The two stops mean that parking is very difficult for passing custom and loading and unloading is nigh on impossible - unless you are the Co-Op and the traffic wardens can't see your huge van !! (hmmm)
There are also lots of issues around anti-social behaviour and the two female managers of the bar and shop not feeling safe in their workplaces.
If you would like to see something done Graham has forms that are to be returned to the council - please nip in and ask him.

Peterb - are Graham & Angela seriously considering closing Lawrence's or was it just something said in a fed up moment? Closing Lawrence's would be a disaster and that's no exaggeration.

Graham is seriously considering his options at the moment. I think his biggest concern is for Angela and for his sister who runs the shop next door. Even with the electronic gate in the wine merchants she no longer feels safe doing her job day to day. However, it is the wrangle over the bus stops that is the cause of the problem: they seem to act as a magnet for trouble.
